I hit the road and I80 and went through PA farmlands
on to West Virginia farmlands and factories to their capitol,

to Nashville |
Charleston WV through KY and TN to Nashville. I ended
up in Nashville TN , home of country music and went to Tootsies on
Broadway and saw a great country act. |

Memphis, home of BB King and the Blues. Checked out
Beale Street where all the clubs are and BB King's bar. It is also Danny
Thomas home and St Judes Hospital. |

Oklahoma to Amarillo TX. |
I hit Little Rock , Arkansas where President Bill
Clinton is king. I visited the site of the Oklahoma bombing, Murtah
Federal Building by McVeigh and the memorial established for it. I
stayed at the Big Texan Motel and ate at the big Texan Steak house home
of the free 72 ounce steak if you can eat it. I made the live video cam
but could not eat that. however, the Texas beer was freat. I drove alog
the old Route 66 and saw the Cadillac Graveyard where there are cars
buried along I30. |

Arrived in Albuquerque and went downtown to Old Town
and in town, a small little Rt 66 type town. |

visited Cerillos NM, a ghost town on the Turquoise Trail. |

Went through the NM mountains and plains. you can
drive 100 mph ( for a few seconds). Colorado Springs is home to Air
Force Academy and Pike's Peak, a great little town. I ended up at an
Irish music "sessuin" at a pub in 60 degree weather. |

Visited Denver and the rocky Mountains. Vail ski area
was 70's and rich in $$$$$. Ended up in the plains and mountains by the
Colorado River and to Grand Junction on the border of Utah. |

Flagstaff , playing the weather, avoiding SNOW. It snows then it is 70
the next day. I ended up in Saint George Utah, home of Brigham Young. |

last day on job for BPD officially retired at 5 PM- I
have been in this Police profession since September 1973, UMB PD then
to Boston PD in November 1977, almost 37 years total. Thank God for no
real serious bad things happening. Las Vegas was the place to
celebrate, on the Strip tonight. |

warmth, dry air , good for the bones. i stayed at Tempe, the home of ASU
Arizona State University, reminded me of the old days visiting UMass

I toured the norther beaches, Malibu, home of the
stars and the OJ sights. I went to McLeans, which is a Boston fans bar
on Wilshire Blvd and was all Red Sox fans abd ex-Bostonians. It was in
the World Series movie. |

toured the rest of LA and southern beaches, saw the
Queen Mary. I headed out to check out the Stars nightlife in Santa
Monica and Main Street. |

Anaheim |
Through Southern California, saw Disneyland the place where we all saw
the magic castle on Sunday nights and heard Walt talk to us. Anaheim is
motel home. The coastal cities and pretty quaint and picturesque. Inland
Route 5 CA is good highway through the more moderate living areas. |

San Diego- I explored the coast of San Diego and La Jolla, went past
Camp Pendelton for you Marines and Navy guys. I headed out to Old Town,
historical SD for nourishment. I also went to Ocean Beach, dog beach and
Pacific Beach, the real CA beach city party town. I had at beer at my
favorite joint in CA to watch the sunset over the Pacific Ocean and have
reasonable priced beer, The Lahaina House on PB. It was GREAT. |

Visited Coronado the Navy town, Balboa Park, SD Zoo and downtown where I
watched the home games in the Gas Lamp Quarter. There was a Blarney
Stone pub, like the old Fields Corner one there. |

Warning to turn off you’re A/C while driving up the 18 miles to the
summit before entering Nevada from CA. |

town and going to still snow up in the local LV ski area Mt. Charleston.

Builder Route. This should be scenic through Glacier National Park and
Fargo, coldest US city. |

I have two friends in my rented Hertz Kia Spectra Car ( a great deal
$770. for a month one way Boston to San Diego, Thank you Hertz promo). I am
getting 35 miles per gallon and car is comfortable. My two friends are the Never
Lost GPS and a blue cup. You figure it out. I don't stop if I don't need to or
want to. This is first day Red JJ McLean got me set up and running on here
so I will be adding when I get spare time. Retirement actual on paper day is
Wednesday March 31, 2010. I am in Santa Fe New Mexico today, Saturday 3/27/2010
and will be in Utah on retirement day. I am trying to avoid the snow here when I
head for Colorado on Sunday. Thanks JJ
